Our Story
Where Learning Begins with Play

A New Chapter
Ipswich Preschool grows from Ipswich School of Dancing, a family-run school that has been part of Ipswich since 1948. Over the years, we’ve welcomed children and families to discover the joy of dance and movement. We’ve seen how music and movement can build confidence, encourage self-expression and bring people together.
We wanted to bring that same warmth and energy into an early years setting, where movement could be part of everyday play and learning. Ipswich Preschool is our next chapter: a nurturing place for children aged 2 until they start school, with movement, music and play at its heart. We’re planning to open in April 2027, subject to Ofsted registration.
The Family Behind Ipswich Preschool
Ipswich Preschool is being developed by the family behind Ipswich School of Dancing. Our dance school has been part of the local community since 1948, welcoming generations of children and adults through its doors.
For our family, the school is about more than learning to dance. It’s about getting to know people, helping them feel welcome and encouraging the confidence to try something new.
That experience has inspired our plans for Ipswich Preschool. We want to bring the same personal approach into a nurturing early years setting, where children feel secure, families feel listened to, and play opens up opportunities to learn.
Music and movement will be part of what makes us distinctive, alongside the care, curiosity and broad early learning experiences every child deserves.
